Of course, email is useful to business. Email:
- allows businesses to communicate with their existing customers
- allows businesses to sell directly to their email subscribers
- helps businesses keep their subscribers abreast of new developments on the business -- new issue of newsletter, new promotions, new products
- email is cheap once you've built your list
But there are a lot of pitfalls and businesses must be careful not to spam recipients or send too many emails
Email useful to business?
Yes, I think email is still useful to businesses as one tool among many.
It is still probably the best way to quickly contact someone and attach necessary things in a variety of formats (pictures, scans, Excel spreadsheets, documents, invoices, etc.)
However, it is quickly being usurped in some areas- especially in delivering simple messages to coworkers and customers. Some of the areas that are taking over what was once primarily a function of email include text messaging, social and business networking sites, blogs and RSS feeds.
One thing many businesses and individuals are now doing is only accepting email from trusted sources in order to limit the time they spend dealing with unsolicited spam.
Reply:Absolutely! Email has taken a big bite out of snail mail and faxes. It is quick, efficient and paper free. To keep up with the pace of business in this age, you really cannot get along without it. Not if you want to keep up with the market, trends, competition, etc. Have a great day!
